Southwards of Solsona, the Santuari del Miracle is a place of peace and tranquillity, where you can admire the Renaissance architecture of the Casa Gran as well as the splendid Baroque altarpiece in the monastery's church. In summertime the monastery organizes open air night concerts on its premises. Nearby, you can pay a visit to the hamlets of Freixinet and Su, as well as Riner's tower and church.

Going further southwest you reach the former boundary between the so called Catalunya Vella (the Christian area) and the Catalunya Nova (the Muslim area), an area of constant battle in the Middle Ages. Thus, the territory was populated with countless watchtowers and defensive fortifications, as well as churches and farmhouses, elements that ensured the power over the territories taken from the enemy. One of the most impressive watchtowers is the Torre de Vallferosa, a jewel of military architecture from the 10th century. It's located near the border between Solsonès and the neighbouring counties of Anoia, with its many natural areas to explore, and Segarra, a land of castles, Romanesque monuments and important remains from Roman times.

Some little villages in the area are worth a visit too, such as Sant Climenç, Ardevol (and its famous live nativity scene -pessebre vivent-) or Pinós, where a compass rose marks the geographical center of Catalonia.
