The company towns on the Cardener river were modelled on the ones previously built in the Llobregat area, in the neighbouring county of Berguedà. This river had a major role as a power source for the industry through the 19th century and the best part of the 20th but today it has become the center of an important leisure area, organized and managed by the Parc fluvial del Llobregat.

Bergueda county is not short of tourist attractions. Besides the outstanding views of Pedraforca mountain and some other impressive landscapes, this county is famous for ancestral traditions like Patum, some very remarkable Romanesque churches and the richness of its cuisine. It is also possible to follow the traces of the presence of famous artists in the region; Picasso spent some time in Gósol and the architect Gaudí designed his only fountained garden, Ca l’Artigas, in La Pobla de Lillet.
